Thermal receipt & kitchen-ticket printing.
FoodyOS prints customer receipts and kitchen tickets on any ESC/POS thermal printer — Star Micronics, Bixolon, Epson, or a generic 58mm/80mm unit. You print through two free apps — the FoodyOS iOS app and the FoodyOS Android app — installed on an iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet at the counter or in the kitchen. The app connects to your printer over Bluetooth or your local network. It is receipt and kitchen-ticket printing, not fiscal printing.
Print on hardware you already own
FoodyOS is a software-first platform, and printing follows the same rule that governs the rest of the stack: bring your own hardware. There is no FoodyOS-branded printer and no proprietary cartridge to lock you in. If a printer speaks ESC/POS — the decades-old command standard that practically every restaurant thermal printer implements — FoodyOS can drive it. That means the Star Micronics or Bixolon unit already humming on your line keeps working, and a $150 generic 80mm printer is a perfectly valid choice for a new station.
This matters because the commission-and-lock-in model that DoorDash, Grubhub and the hardware-bundle POS vendors run on depends on you not owning your own tools. Owning the printer is the same posture as owning your Stripe account and your customer list: the restaurant keeps control.
Two free apps, included
FoodyOS iOS app
Install the free FoodyOS iOS app on an iPhone or iPad at the counter or in the kitchen. It connects to your ESC/POS printer over Bluetooth or your local network and prints customer receipts and kitchen tickets. Free and included with FoodyOS.
FoodyOS Android app
Install the free FoodyOS Android app on an Android tablet at the counter or in the kitchen. It connects to your ESC/POS printer over Bluetooth or your local network and prints customer receipts and kitchen tickets. Free and included with FoodyOS.
Connect your printer in five steps
- Pick your printer. Any ESC/POS thermal unit — Star Micronics, Bixolon, Epson, or a generic 58mm/80mm model.
- Install the free FoodyOS app. Get the iOS app or the Android app on an iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet — both are included with FoodyOS at no extra cost.
- Pair your printer. In the app, pair your ESC/POS printer over Bluetooth or your local network and label it as a receipt printer or a kitchen station (hot, cold, bar).
- Route tickets. Map menu categories to stations so each ticket fires to the right printer and the receipt prints at the counter.
- Send a test ticket. Confirm the formatting and the cut, then run your first live order.
Part of the flat $149, not an add-on
Thermal printing is included in the single flat $149 per restaurant per month — the same month-to-month plan that includes POS, kitchen display, your own online-ordering site, in-house delivery dispatch, hostess and loyalty. There is no separate printing module, no per-ticket fee, and no hardware contract. Want to see how that one number compares against a stack of DoorDash commissions plus a bundled-hardware POS? FAQ
What thermal printers does FoodyOS support?
Any ESC/POS thermal printer — the receipt-printing standard used by Star Micronics, Bixolon, Epson and most generic 58mm/80mm thermal units sold for restaurants. If a printer speaks ESC/POS, FoodyOS can drive it for both front-counter receipts and kitchen tickets. There is no proprietary hardware to buy from us.
How does FoodyOS connect to my printer?
Through two free apps: the FoodyOS iOS app and the FoodyOS Android app. Install one on an iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet at the counter or in the kitchen, and the app connects to your thermal printer over Bluetooth or your local network to print customer receipts and kitchen tickets. Both apps are free and included with FoodyOS — no extra cost, no proprietary hardware.
Does FoodyOS print fiscal receipts?
No. FoodyOS prints customer receipts and kitchen tickets on ESC/POS thermal printers. It is not a fiscal printer and does not issue government-regulated fiscal documents. If your jurisdiction requires fiscal receipts, keep your existing fiscal solution alongside FoodyOS.
Can the kitchen and the counter use different printers?
Yes. You can route the customer receipt to an 80mm printer at the counter and fire kitchen tickets to one or more printers on the line — hot station, cold station, bar — each addressed independently. Routing is software, so adding a station means adding a printer, not changing your plan.
Do I need a Mac or a special POS terminal to print?
No. FoodyOS runs in any modern browser on iPads and Android tablets you already own. Printing works from the free FoodyOS iOS app or the free FoodyOS Android app installed on an iPhone, iPad, or Android tablet — the app connects to your ESC/POS printer over Bluetooth or your local network. There is no required Mac and no required proprietary terminal.
Is thermal printing an extra add-on?
No. ESC/POS thermal receipt and kitchen-ticket printing is included in the flat $149 per restaurant per month — the same plan that includes POS, kitchen display, your online-ordering site, in-house delivery dispatch, hostess and loyalty. No printing add-on, no per-ticket fee.
