Questions about the platform
- What does FoodyOS replace?
- Your POS and kitchen display, your ordering website, your loyalty program, your receipt and kitchen-ticket printing, your in-house delivery dispatch, and your reservations and waitlist — the stack most independents otherwise rent from five separate vendors.
- How much commission does FoodyOS take on an order?
- None, on any channel. An order placed on your own FoodyOS site carries 0% marketplace commission and 0% FoodyOS commission — the only per-order cost is your payment processor's published rate, charged to your own Stripe account: 2.9% + 30¢ online, plus Stripe's published in-person rate on card-present sales (stripe.com, as of August 2026). For scale, DoorDash publishes 15%–30% per delivery order by plan and 6% on pickup across every plan; Uber Eats publishes 20%–30% on its marketplace plans, 15% if you run your own drivers, and 7% on pickup with validated in-store pricing (DoorDash and Uber Eats merchant pricing pages, as of August 2026). Those are the fees a direct order doesn't carry — on the orders that actually come in direct.
- Is FoodyOS cheaper than Toast or Square?
- Not on sticker, and we won't pretend otherwise. Square publishes $79/mo for POS, kitchen display and online ordering together — $70 less than FoodyOS at $149/mo. Square's own basis, verbatim: Square Plus "$49/mo. per location" + Square KDS app "$30/mo. per device" (one device); online ordering included at $0 (squareup.com, as of August 2026). Toast publishes $69/mo as its entry price (pos.toasttab.com, as of August 2026). POS only. Toast publishes no price for online ordering or kitchen display — both are add-ons quoted on request, so a comparable bundle costs more than this floor. Two things are worth weighing before deciding on sticker alone. First, our $149 also covers in-house delivery dispatch, hostess and reservations, loyalty and inventory, with no add-on ladder. Second, the bigger line on most restaurants' bills isn't the subscription at all — it's marketplace commission, which runs 15%–30% per delivery order on DoorDash and 20%–30% on Uber Eats' marketplace plans (DoorDash and Uber Eats merchant pricing pages, as of August 2026). That money only comes back on the orders you actually move to a direct channel — and a direct channel is not unique to us, so compare on the whole picture, not one line.
- Is $149/mo really everything?
- Yes. Every module is included in the flat $149/mo per restaurant — POS, KDS, online ordering site, loyalty, inventory, in-house delivery dispatch, hostess and reservations. It's month-to-month, and you bring your own hardware. The only outside cost is Stripe's standard processing on your own Stripe account.
- Do I need a separate website or website builder?
- No. Your ordering website is part of FoodyOS — pick from three templates, point your custom domain at it, and it's wired into your live menu, inventory, and kitchen. Change a price or 86 an item in FoodyOS and your site updates immediately.
- Do I need a separate loyalty app?
- No. Loyalty is built in, and the customer's pass lives in Apple Wallet — points update automatically via push and rewards notify their lock screen. There's no separate app for them to download or for you to pay for.
- Do I have to buy or rent special printers?
- No proprietary hardware to rent. FoodyOS prints receipts and kitchen tickets to any ESC/POS thermal printer — Star Micronics, Bixolon, or a generic ESC/POS model — through two free, included apps: the FoodyOS iOS app and the FoodyOS Android app, each connecting to your printer over Bluetooth or your local network.
